Melon seed colonization and management

1. Fertilization: ditch with a plough at a distance of 1 m, the depth of the ditch is about 15cm, and the melon is cultivated in a shallow ditch with an arched film. Because of its short growth period, a full base fertilizer can be applied at one time without topdressing, and 2500-3000kg of fine organic fertilizer is applied per mu, Three-element effect compound fertilizer 40-50kg, spread along the ditch, and then hoe several times to fully mix the fertile soil.

2. Colonization: When the outside temperature is not lower than 0°C, choose sunny and windless weather for colonization. The row spacing is 100cm, the plant spacing is 30cm, and 2000-2200 trees are guaranteed per mu.

3. After the film mulching is completed, use the prepared small bamboo poles or soft branches to simmer into a bow shape on the furrow, insert the two ends into the ditch wall to form an arch, the arch height is about 20cm, and the arch distance is about 100cm. Tight mulch, and the two people behind put the mulch on both sides of the mulch with soil pressure and tread firmly. The mulch is the key link of the melon cultivation technique in the shallow trenches of the arched film. Especially in the spring sandy areas, the quality of the mulch is more directly related to the melon. The success or failure of cultivation requires that the height and radian of the arch should be as uniform as possible to ensure that the film surface can be taut after covering.

4. Irrigation: After the mulch is pressed and covered, water the planting water once in time. It should be poured evenly and thoroughly, but it should not be too large. Try to water along the ditch, and the water can reach the head of the ditch.

Melon Seed Field Management

1. Seedling Refinement: As the outside temperature gradually rises, after the melon has slowed down, about 7-10 days after planting, start to let the air out to harden the seedlings to prevent the temperature under the film from being too high to burn the leaves of the seedlings. Tear a small circular hole by hand on one side, one near each melon seedling, and gradually expand as the temperature rises. The edge of the hole should be smooth, and there should be no cracks, so as not to be torn apart by the wind

2. Putting seedlings: After the local night frost, the seedlings should be put in time. After the arch is removed, the seedlings are taken out from the top of the film, and the sky film is changed into a plastic film. Seal the air release doors around the melon seedlings and on the film surface by hand, so that the film is tightly pressed on the ditch wall, so as to protect moisture and high temperature to kill the breeding weeds

3. Plant management: Generally, the method of single vine hanging and pruning is adopted, and two melons are left on the vine. When the last melon is seated, it is topped, and the sun vine behind the melon is removed. Due to the relatively low temperature and low insect activity in the early stage of cultivation of melons in shallow trenches, artificial pollination and hormone treatment should be carried out to promote early sitting of melons. Hormone treatment is mostly used to spray flowers with anti-falling elements and fruit-setting spirits, and Gibberella spp. Remove the stalk of the melon, promote the expansion of the young melon, and increase the speed of the fruit development.

4. Water and fertilizer management: keep the soil moist during the flowering and fruit setting periods. When the young melon is the size of an egg, the fruit has entered the expansion period. Water the melon once to protect the melon, but prevent the water from accumulating in the film for a long time.
